Writer's Statment

Writing a poem is like trying to tell a story in as short a space as possible using as many dimensions as possible. It has the essence of a moment without any unnecessary words. It is told with sound, texture, images, metaphor, structure, and rhythm. I memorize my poems so that I hear every nuance of each dimension. Someone said I take a huge subject and bring it down to one word. I love watching the audience's eyes as they connect with my stories and I make them laugh and cry in the same breath. --Thea Iberall

Primed for Love is a gem of a one-acter—utterly entertaining and emotionally satisfying. This romantic comedy about two unsuccessful writers who meet at a writer’s conference—she’s looking for romance while he is, well, demonstrating his love of numbers—never misses a beat. The play is utterly whimsical, erudite, and humane. It is a delight to enjoy time and time again." Elisabeth Sandberg, Ph.D., Woodbury University

"The Swallow and the Nightingale is cooking on all cylinders. It takes you on a wild ride through history, across the world, and into the future with a poignancy that grips our present day hearts and guts. There's so much to think about and so much to learn as you barrel through this gripping novel. I enjoyed every moment of it." Joan Kroll

"A great read, and it is thought-provoking as well. I can even see it becoming a gripping movie. She writes with a deep understanding of our present plight and an imaginative way of putting things. Quite poetic at times. Overall one of the better pieces of fiction I've read in the past few years!" - John Goodman

"The Swallow and the Nightingale is a fascinating book. It is a warning of where our earth is headed if we don't wake up as well as a call for tolerance. I highly recommend it." - Sandy Blair

"I felt the message of the connection between the environment, love, and religion to be so powerful that it stayed with me for days and days. What an amazing writer! What an amazing story!" - Eleanora Robbins
